Q&A with Author Christina Thompson

chemical attractionOn Monday, I shared my thoughts on the incredibly awesome book, Chemical Attraction.  I liked it so much, I gave it 5 Lighthouses.

The author, Christina Thompson, was kind enough to join The Book Beacon for a Q&A Session!

What was the inspiration for this book?

My husband, Kraig, inspires the romance in my writing. I met him twenty-six years ago at a Kalamazoo bar, and then I married him exactly one year later. Next month, we celebrate our 25th Anniversary.

I wanted Joe and Madeline to feel an instant chemistry, too, and have that single defining moment when you realize you love this person whether you’ve just met or you’ve known each other for years. I like that Joe and Madeline work together from the beginning…them against the world.

What was the most difficult thing about writing this book?

Description is the most difficult for me. How much is too much? I prefer to stick with dialogue and action.

What was your favorite chapter/scene to write?

I had fun writing the scenes for the fundraiser party in the first chapter, but I adore the scenes between Joe and Madeline’s Aunt Sylvia. I think Joe’s true personality comes out around her.

What actor/actress would you choose to play Madeline and Joe?

I can see Brian Austin Green or Alex O’Loughlin as Joe. Madeline’s character is tougher to choose. I keep picturing me in those scenes…don’t tell Kraig…

Do you have advice for getting past Writer’s Block?

When I feel the Writer’s Block seeping in, I try to remember that it’s only a draft. I can always add more later, especially those darn descriptions. Get the ideas down first then edit, edit, edit.

What project are you working on now?

I’ve just finished tweaking the third book in The Chemical Attraction Series, Their Rigid Rules. This romantic adventure about Joe’s sister Taylor and her now husband, Stuart, is the prequel to the first two. I wrote it years ago as a short story. As a secondary character, Joe had his own story to tell. He stayed in my head until I wrote Chemical Attraction and Chemical Reaction. I love the deep connection that Joe, Eva, and Taylor have.

Please go get Chemical Attraction & see for yourself why it has so many 5-star reviews!
