Enter a hidden world of magic, mystery, danger and romance in this YA fantasy from Amazon bestselling author, Rachel Morgan…

Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day’s work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone—she’s about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years. That is, until a cute human boy who can somehow see through her faerie glamor follows her into the Fae realm. Now she’s broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion.

The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he’s discovered of the Fae realm. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot—and it’ll take all her training to get out alive.

[This novel was originally published in four separate parts: Guardian,LabyrinthTraitor and Masquerade. It includes bonus scenes at the end that were not published in the individual parts.]

I really enjoyed reading this book!  The adventure begins with the first paragraph and does not stop.  There are many creative, magical aspects of life in Creepy Hollow: faeries draw doorways to enter rooms and escape danger, weapons are summoned when needed, and Vi’s pet changes species at will.  While living in this fantastical realm where anything is possible, faeries are accountable to the Guild that trains them and the Council that rules them.  When Violet bends rules and breaks laws, she embarks on a fast-paced adventure full of surprises.  The quest she starts transforms into another endeavor all together, and it is an enthralling journey each step of the way.

4Violet is a great character – fiercely independent, physically tough, loyal, sarcastic, and smart.  Her quick wit and fighting skills get her (and others) out of many tough situations. For a fearless guardian, she is certainly less brave when it comes to matters of the heart. She does not trust anyone, but she must learn to depend on others to survive.  There are just as many emotional conflicts going on within Vi as physical battles in Creepy Hollow.

The other characters were captivating as well: Nate – the human Violet must protect and Ryn – the faerie she tries to avoid.  If you have read other faerie stories, you know about the Seelie and Unseelie Courts.  They are here, as well as trolls and sirens and halflings… a great cast of characters lives in this magical world.  Violet’s pet, Filigree, is an unexpected treat as well.

The setting of Creepy Hollow is very well crafted and written.  Everything from Violet’s home to the forest floor is vividly depicted.  The author portrays an enchanted realm that is both fantastical and believable, and I applaud her creativity, world building and storytelling.  I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy adventure!

The Faerie Guardian is Book One of the Creepy Hollow series.  As soon as I finished this story, I made sure I could get my hands on Book 2.  I am adding it to the  top of my TBR pile for this Summer!  -kris
